The fastest path: open Vela → Profile → Settings → Delete Account. That wipes local data instantly and queues server-side deletion. If you’ve already uninstalled, see Delete by email below.
Vela is made by danestves LLC, registered in Delaware, United States. If you have any questions about this process, email [email protected] and a human on our team will respond within one to two business days.
1. Delete only some of your data
You don’t need to delete your entire account to remove specific data. All of the following controls are available directly inside Vela, without contacting us:
Delete a single period
- Open the Calendar tab.
- Tap the day where the period starts.
- Tap Edit period → Delete period.
- Confirm. The period (start date, end date, flow entries for those days) is removed immediately from your device.
Delete a single daily log entry
Daily logs include symptoms, mood, flow intensity, notes, and any other observations you’ve recorded for a given day.
- Open the Home tab or the Calendar tab.
- Tap the day you want to clear.
- Tap the entry type you want to remove (symptom, mood, flow, note) and tap Remove, or tap Clear all entries for this day to remove every log on that date.
Wipe all health data without deleting your account (Panic button)
If you want to remove every cycle, log, prediction, and Garden progress entry while keeping your account active (for example, you’re lending your phone, or you’ve decided to start fresh):
- Open the Profile tab.
- Tap Settings → Privacy.
- Tap Panic wipe.
- Confirm. Every health-related record is removed from your device and from any encrypted cloud backups associated with your account. Your sign-in remains intact; the next time you open the app, you’ll see an empty state.
Turn off cloud sync without deleting your account
If you want to stop storing encrypted backups on our servers but keep the app local:
- Open the Profile tab.
- Tap Settings → Cloud sync.
- Toggle Sync with Vela Cloud off.
- Tap Delete cloud backups now to purge the encrypted blobs associated with your account. Your local data stays on your device.
Unpair a partner without deleting your account
- Open the Profile tab.
- Tap Settings → Partner mode.
- Tap the paired partner’s entry.
- Tap End pairing. The encrypted channel between your devices is severed immediately on both sides. No health data is exchanged in this process.
What’s kept after partial deletion
- Your account identity stays active (sign-in, email, internal user ID).
- Your subscription is not affected — cancel separately in your Google Play or App Store settings if you no longer want premium.
- Support email history and financial records follow the same retention rules as full account deletion — see What we keep.
- On-device deletions are irreversible. Because we never stored your data in plaintext, there is no server-side backup we can restore from.
If none of these cover your situation, email [email protected] with the subject Partial Data Deletion Request and describe what you’d like removed. Please don’t include the data itself — just the category and rough date range.
2. What gets deleted
When you complete an account deletion request, we remove:
- Your account — Your sign-in identity (Google OAuth record, email address, internal user ID).
- Your encrypted cloud backups — If you enabled Premium cloud sync, the encrypted blobs associated with your account are permanently deleted from our servers. Because the data is end-to-end encrypted with keys that live only on your device, we were never able to read it — and after deletion, neither can anyone else.
- Partner mode pairings — Any partner invite codes or paired connections tied to your account are severed. Your partner will be notified that the link has ended, but no cycle or health data is shared in that notification.
- Subscription metadata stored by us — The record that links your Google Play or App Store purchase to your account is removed. Your actual purchase receipt still lives with the app store (see What we keep).
- All local data on your device — If you delete from inside Vela, the local SQLite database (cycles, daily logs, predictions, Garden progress, preferences) is wiped immediately. If you delete by email after uninstalling, you’ve already removed the local data by uninstalling.
3. What we keep (and why)
A short, honest list of what we do not delete, and the legal or operational reason each item stays:
- Anonymized, aggregated usage counts — We may retain counters like “number of Premium subscribers in March 2026” with no link to you, for internal reporting and fraud prevention. These cannot be traced back to an individual.
- Support email history — If you emailed
[email protected], those messages may stay in our inbox for up to 24 months so we can reference prior conversations. You can ask us to purge your email thread explicitly and we will. - Financial records — Tax and accounting laws in the United States require us to retain transaction records (amount, date, platform) for up to 7 years. These records identify the purchase but not your cycle or health data.
- App store purchase records — Google Play and the Apple App Store keep their own records of your purchases, independent of Vela. To delete or manage those, use your Google or Apple account settings directly.
- Security logs — Abuse-prevention logs (e.g., rate-limit hits, failed sign-in attempts) are retained for up to 90 days with IP addresses rotated or redacted.
We never retain plaintext health data. We cannot — the zero-knowledge architecture means we never had it.
4. Delete from inside Vela
If you still have Vela installed:
- Open Vela and go to the Profile tab (avatar icon, top left of Home).
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to the Account section and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the action. We’ll ask once — we won’t chain “are you sure?” dialogs.
The app will:
- Wipe the local database on your device immediately.
- Send a deletion request to our servers for your encrypted cloud backups (if any) and your account identity.
- Sign you out.
You don’t need to email us afterwards — the in-app flow completes the entire request.
5. Delete by email
If you’ve uninstalled Vela and can’t use the in-app flow:
Email [email protected] with the subject Account Deletion Request and include:
- The email address you used to sign in to Vela (Google OAuth).
- Your platform: iOS or Android.
- Optional: the approximate date you stopped using Vela, which helps us locate your account faster.
Do not include cycle data, symptoms, partner names, or any sensitive information — we don’t need it, and by design we can’t read it anyway. The email alone is enough to identify your account.
We will reply with a confirmation once deletion is complete.
6. How long does it take
- Local data: Deleted instantly when you use the in-app flow.
- Encrypted cloud backups and account identity: Removed from our primary database within 7 days. Fully purged from encrypted backups within 30 days.
- Partner mode pairings: Severed within 24 hours.
- Financial and legally-required records: Retained per law (see What we keep).
7. After deletion
- Your Vela account no longer exists. You can sign up again any time with the same or a different Google account — we won’t have any memory of the previous account.
- Active subscriptions are not automatically cancelled. To stop billing, cancel the subscription in your Google Play or App Store account settings before requesting account deletion, or separately afterwards.
- Local data deletion is irreversible. There is no “restore from backup” button because we never had your plaintext data to back up.
If you change your mind during the 7-day primary-database window, email [email protected] and we’ll do our best to halt the deletion — but we cannot guarantee recovery, because most of the work happens automatically.
